Is the DMV open today in North Carolina?

In North Carolina, driver licensing is handled by the Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV). Its offices close on the state's holiday schedule below — and on weekends. If today isn't one of those, offices run normal business hours.

NCDMV closes for Good Friday but not for Presidents Day, Juneteenth, or Columbus Day, which are not North Carolina state holidays.

The Christmas break runs three days in 2026: Thursday December 24, Friday December 25, and Monday December 28.

Dates come from the official NCDMV holiday schedule page on the NCDOT website.

Checked against the Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) and the state's published holiday schedule, verified August 2026. When a schedule for a new year has not been published yet, this page says so — it never guesses.
