Banks in the U.S. close on the eleven federal holidays — but the schedule that actually governs them is the Federal Reserve's holiday calendar, and the Fed's rules have two quirks worth knowing. First, the Fed schedule isn't a mandate: retail banks choose to close on Fed holidays, and almost all do. Second, when a holiday falls on Saturday, the Fed doesn't move it to Friday — so banks stay open on days when federal offices are closed.

The sign above answers for today. The table below is the full schedule, checked date by date against the Federal Reserve's published calendar. Branches inside grocery stores and some credit unions set their own holiday hours, so when a deposit or a signature can't wait, call the branch.

Typical lobby hours run 9am–5pm on weekdays — your branch may differ.
