Is the DMV open today in Virginia?

In Virginia, driver licensing is handled by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. Its offices close on the state's holiday schedule below — and on weekends. If today isn't one of those, offices run normal business hours.

The DMV published its own 2026 closing list, and the remaining dates come from the Commonwealth's 2026 pay and holiday calendar.

Virginia calls the February holiday George Washington Day and the October one Columbus Day and Yorktown Victory Day.

DMV Select offices are run by local governments and may keep a different holiday schedule, and the DMV announces its exact end-of-year hours separately.
