Is the DMV open today in Washington?

In Washington, driver licensing is handled by the Washington State Department of Licensing. Its offices close on the state's holiday schedule below — and on weekends. If today isn't one of those, offices run normal business hours.

These dates come from the Department of Licensing's own 2026 driver licensing office holiday closure list.

Offices also close the Friday after Thanksgiving, which Washington calls Native American Heritage Day, and Independence Day is taken on Friday, July 3.

Closures can vary by office, and locations that open Tuesday through Saturday may take a different day.
