Trash pickup is the one schedule on this site with no national authority behind it. Collection is run by your city's sanitation department or a private hauler, and each one publishes its own holiday list — so the honest answer for any holiday is a pattern, not a promise. The pattern is strong enough to be useful: most cities observe six holidays for collection — New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas — and run normal routes on the rest.
On an observed holiday, the usual move is a slide: no truck on the holiday itself, and every route for the rest of that week runs a day later — Thursday's route on Friday, Friday's on Saturday. Some cities skip the week's collection instead of sliding it. The sign above and the table below show which holidays commonly affect pickup and which usually don't; on every one of them, your city or hauler's own holiday schedule is the word that counts.
